Background & Objectives: Metabolic syndrome is currently one of the most common diseases and considering its increased incidence rate and outcomes, it is necessary to implement health interventions to prevent, control, and reduce its side effects. This study aimed to determine educational needs of women with metabolic syndrome on healthy nutrition based on Pender's Health Promotion Model. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 329 subjects with metabolic syndrome were systematically selected from clients referring to five treatment centers of Isfahan Oil and Petroleum industry in 2012. Data were collected using a self-designed questionnaire based on health promotion model and its validity and reliability were assessed in different stages. Data were analyzed using independent T-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation. Results: Mean score of nutrition knowledge was determined as 7.69±2.07, while 73% of the subjects had a medium level of awareness and 5.2% had poor knowledge. Mean scores for knowledge, perceived benefits, self-efficacy, social support and commitment to husband were significantly higher in employed women than housewives and mean of perceived barriers in working women was less than the housewives. Conclusion: According to the results obtained, although patients with metabolic syndrome have a good knowledge on proper diet, however, because of some other factors they don't feel well for their health. Therefore, implementing educational programs to affect factors influencing Pender health promotion model is recommend.
