Background & objectives: The increasing growth of urbanization and the formation of a new scale of urban development in recent decades have caused the city and contemporary urban planning with new challenges such as increasing social anomalies, environmental degradation, water, air, and soil pollution, increasing Faced with mental illness, socio-economic inequalities and a generally reduced quality of life.
Methods: This research aims to analyze the indicators of the 3rd region of Ardabil and compare them with the standards of a healthy city based on the World Health Organization (WHO) criteria. In this study, the level of sustainable development in this region will be obtained using the descriptive-analytical method and collecting information in both documentary and survey forms.
results: The findings of the research show that in the health index, in limited cases such as the prevalence of infectious diseases and the abortion rate, and all sub-indices of the economic and social indicators, especially the unemployment rate and the percentage of people below the poverty line in the region and all environmental indicators, there is a big gap with global standards.
Conclusion: The results of this research showed that the understudy region is only acceptable in the health indices, which is one of three health indicators of a healthy city defined by the World Health Organization (health, socio-economic and environmental indicators). In the other indicators, it is far from the ideal situation and the standards of a healthy city, which requires more attention from the inhabitants and officials of the region.
