Abstract:   (25 Views)
Background & objectives: Effective hospital design increasingly relies on collaboration with local communities and healthcare professionals to create environments that promote healing and satisfaction. By analyzing existing literature on architectural factors that influence recovery and patient experience, designers can improve the quality of care provided by medical staff. This study investigates the architectural needs and preferences of hospital staff and patients in Rasht, aiming to identify key design indicators that support well-being and operational efficiency.
Methods: A quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional approach was used to assess perceptions among staff and patients in public hospitals in Rasht. Stratified cluster random sampling was employed to ensure representative participation. Data collection involved both library research and structured questionnaires. Based on a comprehensive literature review, relevant architectural components were identified and incorporated into the survey instrument, which was administered to participants.
Results: The research results for employees showed a Prob>F value of 0.0371, indicating that the overall model is significant and the independent variables have a statistical effect. For patients, the Prob>F value for the F test was 0.0000, indicating that the model is generally statistically significant and that the independent variables can explain changes in the dependent variable. Statistical analysis revealed that, from the staff's perspective, spatial factors were the most important, highlighting the significance of elements such as natural features, color, and layout in hospital environments. Among patients, the variable with the highest mean score was comfort (17.28), followed by safety (11.07), indicating that these aspects are of greatest importance to them.
Conclusion: By integrating the perspectives of both patients and healthcare staff, this study emphasizes the value of human-centered design in hospital architecture. The findings advocate for the adoption of global best practices tailored to local needs, providing a strategic framework for designing new healthcare facilities and upgrading existing ones to enhance satisfaction and recovery outcomes.
